Inside - Outside : remote monitoring of patients in medical oncology

How many patients would rather be surrounded by their loved ones than within the walls of the hospital? And have you ever wondered if it is possible to combine the safety of care and the quality of life at home? This is precisely the question that remote monitoring is answering by providing continuity of care beyond hospital walls, through reliable, responsive and personalised medical monitoring. Since January 2022, nearly 900 patients receiving chemotherapy have been integrated into our remote monitoring system, via the Resilience app. Each week, 440 patients receving treatment submit their subjective health data (e-PRO - electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes), allowing for regular clinical assessment. The nurses coordinating oncology carefully monitor this information: 👉 41% of transmissions generate alerts, processed in an average of less than 2 hours between receipt and resolution. This organisation model allows for early management of treatment-related adverse events, while reducing the risk of unanticipated re-hospitalization. Since January 2025, we have enhanced this device for certain pathologies by integrating non-invasive @Masimo sensors, which are applied directly to the skin. These sensors measure continuously and in real time five objective physiological parameters: temperature, oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiratory rate and infusion rate. This development enhances the safety of returning home, improves the quality of remote monitoring and paves the way for connected, more proactive, and strongly patient-centred oncology.
