A major breakthrough in the detection and monitoring of early melanoma

[custom-html] Professor Caroline Knebelman-Robert, head of the dermatology unit at the Gustave Roussy Institute, presents a study conducted with the medtech company DiaDeep on 400 patients with early-stage melanoma. “The aim of this work is to better assess the risk of a patient developing metastases in the years following melanoma excision. This is crucial for refining follow-up and personalizing treatments.” This study would not have been possible without the essential contribution of numerous specialists, and in particular Dr. Christina Kanaan, pathologist, whose expertise played a key role in the scientific validation of the project. Based in Villeurbanne, DiaDeep develops artificial intelligence algorithms capable of automatically analyzing medical images for various cancers – breast, melanoma, ovarian – to help pathologists make faster, more accurate, and more reliable diagnoses. This promising collaboration perfectly illustrates how the synergy between medical expertise and artificial intelligence can improve cancer care and save more lives.
