Fifth edition of Dedalus' D4Evolution: 2022 report and 2023 outlook

On Thursday, January 26th, Dedalus held its annual event: D4Evolution in Paris. After two entirely digital editions, the event was finally able to take place in person. It was also an opportunity for the group to review its 2022 performance and present its 2023 objectives.

2022 Review and 2023 Strategy

The European leader in healthcare software unveiled its 2023 strategy, focusing on four main themes: the collaborative development of the future of digital healthcare across Europe, the challenge of data-driven approaches, the implications of cloud computing, and finally, the issue of quality of work life for healthcare professionals.

The group ended 2022 with growth exceeding 15%, driven by significant investment, particularly in human resources: “In France, we recruited over 300 people last year in R&D and customer service, representing an 18% increase in our workforce,” emphasizes Emmanuel Mougeotte, CEO of Dedalus France. The second major investment of 2022 focused on harmonizing and simplifying the digital tools used by hospitals.

The Challenge of the Digital Component of the Ségur

2022 marked the end of the first phase of the Ségur du Numérique (Digital Ségur), and Dedalus met several challenges, which Emmanuel Mougeotte is pleased to note: “We have listed 13 products, representing 10% of all the listed tools… […] we are currently deploying solutions, whether for the Identity Repository (IR), the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), or the intermediary platforms…”

The launch of Mon Espace Santé (My Health Space) in 2022 and the second phase of the Ségur also heralds new challenges: “Our role in Mon Espace Santé is to enable professionals to populate and access this platform. In the radiology sector, for example, the challenge of the first phase was the transmission of reports.” “Today, the challenge of wave 2 is to transmit the images,” explains Emmanuel Mougeotte.

In 2022, the focus was on bringing the company’s software into compliance to populate the Mon Espace Santé (My Health Space) platform. In 2023, the objective will be to enable healthcare professionals to access health data.

Continuity in the Convergence of EHRs

The new Care4U clinical information system, designed to accelerate the convergence of different Electronic Patient Records, is proving popular with users. Following the initial deployment of the solution at the Artois Territorial Hospital Group (GHT) in 2022, Dedalus has announced the signing of two new contracts with two GHTs, including the Gers GHT. Frédéric Vaillant, Deputy Director of Dedalus France, explains that “2022 was also marked by the return of Gustave Roussy, Europe’s leading cancer center, to our side as a client. […] This collaboration will be focused on innovation in the area of drug safety in oncology.”

Quality of Work Life for Healthcare Professionals: Communication and Interoperability

With the support of their partners, Dedalus, Montpellier University Hospital (CHU de Montpellier), and the University of Montpellier launched the ERIOS project: the Research and Integration Space for Digital Tools in Healthcare. The goal is to co-develop digital tools adapted to medical practices. Emmanuel Mougeotte expresses his desire to “simplify the daily lives of healthcare professionals.” The first phase of this project will involve an application dedicated to managing isolation in the psychiatric environment of Montpellier University Hospital, to improve the quality of work life for healthcare professionals and simplify patient management. A first version of this application, already in the testing phase, is planned for the end of 2023.

Among the achievements of 2022, we also find the growth of the PACS – DeepUnity Diagnost system, dedicated to radiology practices for the visualization and communication of patients’ medical data. The Amiens University Hospital has adopted this solution, which will later be extended to the entire Hospital Grouping (GHT).

Finally, Dedalus launched a service center, a new offering motivated, according to Frédéric Vaillant, “by a shortage of resources and skills that needed to be addressed among our clients, requiring dedicated support to assist them in their projects.” The objective of this service center is to provide Hospital Groupings with trained and competent personnel in numerous specific areas.

The T4C Solution to Address the Data Challenge

Regarding the data domain, Dedalus is maintaining its strategy with its Digital Connect 4 Health (DC4H) platform, enabling its clients to create value from stored data. “2023 will be the launch year for the Trial4Care solution, which will allow our clients and hospitals to leverage their data internally, but also facilitate their connection with certain private laboratories,” concludes Mr. Vaillant. Indeed, data management is paramount, but the challenge of its use is just as crucial.
