InCyber Forum: a 360° view of the digital world

With exploding data volumes, ever-expanding uses that push the boundaries of what’s possible, and threats that are constantly multiplying and evolving, the digital world needs key events more than ever to bring experts together. It’s essential that they can share, exchange ideas, plan, and anticipate the challenges they face and those yet to come. With its cross-cutting approach, the FIC, or InCyber Forum, has become a benchmark in this field, and the healthcare sector is no exception.

The FIC: A High Point for the Digital Ecosystem

The FIC is the leading event in Europe dedicated to cybersecurity and digital trust. Having grown steadily since 2007 (when it was organized by the French National Gendarmerie and focused primarily on cybercrime), it now attracts 20,000 visitors (both in-person and online, 2023 figures). “Cybersecurity has steadily gained prominence in the public debate,” emphasizes Guillaume Tissier, President of CEIS (a subsidiary of the Forward Global group, which organizes the forum) and Managing Director of the InCyber Forum. “Since the 2000s, attacks have multiplied, and, in parallel, so has the attack surface, as digital technology now infiltrates every sector.” The forum’s philosophy is to break down the silos surrounding the challenges of the digital world. Technical, operational, legal, political, and industrial aspects are all addressed. “We need to move cybersecurity beyond its purely technical constraints. This perspective alone is insufficient to encompass the full range of challenges.” Hence the need for a cross-cutting approach. This is reflected in the audience. The entire digital ecosystem is represented: software publishers, the public sector, consultants, law enforcement agencies, government agencies, academics, procurement professionals, and more. Thus, all levels of information are brought together for a highly enriching exchange of knowledge.

To be as inclusive as possible, the event actually comprises three parts: a trade show (for the business side), a forum (focused on sharing experiences, exchanges, and knowledge), and a summit (for policy orientations). These three components encompass a series of key events designed to address the operational challenges of cybersecurity and contribute to building a digital future aligned with Europe’s values and interests. “Because talking about cybersecurity isn’t just about discussing threats,” emphasizes Guillaume Tissier. “Our role is also to facilitate the digital transformation, which itself must be anticipated.” This is why AI is the central theme for 2024. “This edition will aim to address AI in all its facets: as a threat, with the automated attacks it enables; as an opportunity to improve and automate our protection, detection, and response capabilities; and as a potential target (data poisoning).” »

A key moment for the healthcare sector as well

In this upcoming edition, as in previous ones, healthcare will have its place in the program. “It’s obviously a very specific field, but we also find difficulties and needs quite similar to other sectors, such as the cybersecurity of industrial systems or vigilance surrounding the IoT,” explains Guillaume Tissier. In fact, the number of CISOs from healthcare facilities attending the FIC is increasing every year, like Jean-Sylvain Chavanne from the Brest University Hospital. “Thanks to this forum, I kill several birds with one stone! At the hospital, I’m approached every day by salespeople presenting me with solutions. The FIC allows me to get a general overview of cybersecurity. I then have a 360° view of the issues and solutions that concern me. It’s a considerable time saver for me.” “Each year, the manager compiles a list of software publishers ‘likely to provide new solutions to [his] emerging needs’ and contacts them to decide who his future partner will be. ‘The healthcare sector is particularly exposed,’ emphasizes Guillaume Tissier. ‘Heterogeneity of equipment, disparate stages of development, all viewed through the lens of a constant emergency when it comes to saving lives… It is essential for this sector to find a space to exchange ideas with its peers and with industry representatives.’ Jean-Sylvain Chavanne will attend the next edition in 2024 with this in mind. He will also take the opportunity to review new policy directions. ‘The summit provides an overview of recent announcements made by ministries or agencies (such as ANSSI).
