CMMS: A comprehensive solution for optimizing maintenance in healthcare facilities

More and more healthcare facilities are turning to CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software. This Maintenance 2.0 approach allows for real-time monitoring of maintenance operations, improved planning of technical interventions, and tracking of several key indicators.

Software for optimal monitoring and smoother communication

Maintenance management is a real challenge for many hospitals. This is the case for the Barthélemy Durand Public Health Establishment (EPS) in Essonne. The establishment’s maintenance department receives nearly 10,000 service requests each year. For Guillaume Poupin, head of maintenance at the EPS, implementing a CMMS was the best solution: “With 20 technical staff, several service providers, and more than 70 buildings spread across two-thirds of the Essonne region, this change was essential.” Those submitting work requests now receive real-time feedback. Planning is easier, and we can benefit from a mobile interface that will allow us to be even more flexible and responsive by the end of the first half of 2023. On a daily basis, the software installed by DIMO Maint enables the management of maintenance for all EPS equipment across its various sites. It schedules preventive and regulatory maintenance, managing intervention schedules for technicians and service providers, and sending reminders. It also optimizes corrective maintenance. Jean-Luc Sanjosé, Sales Director at DIMO Maint, explains: “Our solution allows healthcare professionals to create tickets, indicate the level of urgency, and stay informed. The software then allows us to assign work to each technician or subcontractor and view a workload and progress schedule.”

Interoperability, a key criterion

In 2016, when EPS Barthélemy Durand decided to implement a computerized solution to optimize its maintenance, one of the main selection criteria was interoperability: “We needed to find software capable of managing maintenance and service requests, but also of working with our financial management software, to ensure seamless management of spare parts inventory,” explains Guillaume Poupin. The hospital then opted for the management software offered by DIMO Maint. Jean-Luc Sanjose explains: “EPS Barthélemy Durand asked us for a comprehensive solution capable of connecting to other internal software and the CMMS systems of various service providers. Our solution is designed to be simple and quick to deploy. It is easily configurable, and its interface can connect to many other tools.” »

The Many Possibilities of CMMS

An effective maintenance management solution offers other advantages. For example, it provides access to indicators such as each employee’s working time or the equipment requiring the most interventions. The possibilities are numerous and applicable across several departments: “Today, all our employees use this software, and their feedback is very positive. So much so that at the management level, it has had a snowball effect. DIMO Maint’s software has already been extended to the grounds maintenance department, and we are currently extending it to other departments, such as fire safety, transportation (with a fleet of 200 vehicles), administrative services, and the communications department,” explains Guillaume Poupin. EPS Barthélemy Durand is not the only institution convinced by CMMS, as DIMO Maint’s software is used in nearly 200 healthcare facilities. This solution continues to evolve to meet the demand in this area. For example, a geolocation service for equipment will soon be implemented within the Champagne University Hospital Group.
