Optimizing CMMS: The example of the Valenciennes Hospital

The hospital recently chose the DIMO Maint solution to optimize its CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). A winning bet for improving team responsiveness and better managing interventions.

The Challenge of Hospital Maintenance Management

In a hospital, maintenance covers not only medical equipment but also technical infrastructure, such as buildings and security systems. The Valenciennes Hospital Center was using outdated software that was no longer being updated. “Asset+ was effective, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and no longer met our needs in terms of service integration and mobile implementation,” explains Nicolas Stebach, head of the biomedical department.

To address this issue, the Valenciennes Hospital Center opted in January 2022 for DIMO Maint MX, a cloud-based solution with automatic updates and a user-friendly interface. The flexible solution can accommodate all relevant healthcare services, from biomedical equipment maintenance to infrastructure maintenance. “This solution allows us to develop a similar hierarchy for different trades. This way, we were able to easily connect our internal teams as well as our external service providers.” Furthermore, each entity can be configured according to its own needs. The deployment of this solution has therefore streamlined processes by integrating biomedical, technical, and security services, and by structuring all interventions according to the institution’s priorities.

A Mobile Solution for Greater Efficiency

One of DIMO Maint’s major strengths lies in its mobility. Used via tablets or smartphones, the tool allows technicians to intervene directly in the field, instantly accessing the information necessary for their interventions. Thanks to the digitization of processes, intervention tracking is facilitated and ensures complete traceability.

Thanks to the mobile application, which runs on smartphones and tablets, technicians can scan equipment QR codes, consult technical documents, and record interventions in real time. This significantly simplifies management, reduces data re-entry, and minimizes the risk of errors.” The tool enables efficient management of maintenance requests by assisting with the planning and prioritization of interventions.

Anticipating the future through predictive management

In addition to real-time maintenance, the software offers tools to anticipate future needs. The biomedical department can thus make informed decisions. “One of DIMO Maint’s major strengths is its ability to help us anticipate equipment replacements by alerting us to those requiring repeated interventions or nearing the end of their lifespan,” explains Nicolas Stebach.

Furthermore, the solution is used to plan equipment replacements and optimize inventory management. Data centralization facilitates more strategic, long-term management, enabling more informed decision-making. And the deployment isn’t limited to the Valenciennes Hospital. After extending the solution to the Saint-Amand-Les-Eaux Hospital, the hospital plans to deploy it to other facilities within the GHT (Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire - Territorial Hospital Group), including the Fourmies Hospital and the Avesnes-sur-Helpe Hospital. This will centralize the management of equipment and interventions on a regional scale. This pooling of resources should enhance operational efficiency while allowing for better cost control.
